Bulgaria has a tradition in vine and wine making of thousands years; all over the country you can find out wines reflecting the culture of its people and of the land. The country is divided in five wine zones and two wine regions that produce wines with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) while there are 55 Protected Designations of Origin (PDO). There are also more than than 25 white of red grape varieties (international and indigenous), related to quality wines under PDO and / or PGI.

Danubian Plain

This region is characterized by a temperate continental climate with hot summers and a large amount of sunny days. It covers the central and western part of the Danube plain, the southern bank of the Danube and its adjacent areas.

White wines have complex aromas with dominant citrus and nuances of herbs, fresh grass and wild flowers. The taste is fresh, with balanced acidity and harmonious with long lasting aftertaste.

Red grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Pamid, Bouquet, Syrah, Rubin, Cinsaut, Evmolpia Grenache, Hebros, Alicante Bouchet, Grand Noir, Gamza, Carmenere, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Grenache and others.

The aroma reminiscent of rosé red berries and stone fruits. The taste is ethereal, plump, with elements of blackberry and ripe cherry. Thracian valley

The climate is temperate continental with good distribution of rainfall throughout the growing season. It includes central parts of the Thracian lowlands and parts of Sakar. The climatic conditions of the region, protected from harsh north winds, favor the production of rich, thick, memorable wines of the "Cabernet Sauvignon" and "Mavrud." Best wines of the local "Mavrud" is highly appreciated because they combine the aroma and taste of red berries, spices and herbs.

White: Muscat Ottonel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Muscat red, Rhine Riesling, Tamianka, Pinot Gris, Ugni Blanc, Italian Riesling, Aligote, Viognier, Semion, silvaner and others.

The white wines are alive, deep golden color with greenish hues. The aroma is intense, multi-faceted, evolving in the glass and production sweetness combined with colors. The palate is full-bodied, balanced and harmonious, with a distinctive fruitiness.

Red: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Mavrud, Pinot Noir, Gamay, Wide Melnik Vine, Pamid, Bouquet Shevka, Syrah, Rubin Evmolpia Melnik 1300 Melnik 82, Grenache, Plovdiv Malaga Cinsaut, Alicante Bouchet, Petit Verdot and others. The Struma Valley

This region includes the southwestern parts of the country. Size is not large, but has specific climatic characteristics approaching him to Mediterranean areas. In the valley of the Struma River are cultivated local variety "Wide Melnik Vine", "Cabernet Sauvignon" and "Merlot". The resulting wines are characterized by warm southern tones in the aroma, fullness of taste and wealth of general impressions.
